Judge Windeyer's Retirement Demanded.

(Per Press Association). Sydney, August 19. The Central Committee of the George Dean Defence Fund held its final meeting last week, when it was stated that the total subscriptions received amounted to .£ll9, and the amount disbursed to £'118. The Chairman (Alderman D. Da\is) stated that as the Committee had arrived at the end of its labors it was necessary lor it to consider the part Mr Justice Wiudeyer had taken in the Dean and other notorious cases. The matter could not end there, as the public had lost faith in Judge Wiudeyer, aud if his retirement were not iusisted on by those in authority the country'would be convulsed by another agitation. A motion was carried emphatically protesting agaiust Mr Justice Windeyer retaining his position on the bench, and calling upon the Government and Parliament to compel his immediate retirement. Mr Price has given notice to move in the Legislative Assembly, " That, in the opiuion of this House, His Honor Sir William Windeyer should^tfilqpger retain his seat as a Puisine 3»|ge. .of the Supreme Court of New SoutH Wales. That the foregoing resolution v be presented by Address to His Excellency the Governor." Mr Watson intends to ask the Minister for Justice whether it is his intention to take any action toward the liberation of the Mouut Rennic prisoners. —Post. ' ■'•
