Davis' Fantastiques.
Professor and Madame Stella Davis gave an entertainment in the Assembly Rooms last evening to a fair attendance. The- proceed ings included a display of card tricks and other feats of legerdemain, ventriloquial exhibitions, clairvoyance, and ghost-raising. The Professor invited a committee of four gentlemen from the audience to go on the stage and tie his hands and feet to a chair. One of the gentlemen, "who was an adept at tying difficult knots, thought he had " fixed " the professor, but the latter cleverly extricated himself. A number of questions were written on pieces of paper by the audience, and after being collected, were re-distri-buted, and Madame Davis, after being blindfolded, answered several, stating what the question was and afterwards giving the answer. The audience seemed to be delighted with the clever tricks performed, and expressed their approval by frequent applause. The entertainment will be repeated again this evening, for when the Professor has promised several changes in the programme.
