Unemployed Relief Fund.

(Per Press Association.} CnnisTcnußcn, August 20. At a meeting of the Wiuter Work Fund Committee to-day, the Mayor said the total amount collected was .±'1125 Is 3d, and the balance of sums allocated to the various local bodies was very small. The Committee was afc about the end of its tether, and unless more money was provided a commencement of discharging the men would have to bo made. Contribution cards had been sent to the Christchurch and Canterbury Clubs and Christchurch Working Men's Club. The Jast named had previously contributed 425, aud on the list just sent in there was £1 Bs Od. The lists from tbo other two clubs had been returned without a scratch of the pen.
