Frozen Meat Conference.
IMPORTANT PROPOSALS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 15. At a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee it was decided that the Conference begin on September 3rd instead of the 27th inst. as first arranged, and the following paper be drawn up for submission to it : — (1) To arrange for amalgamation, buying out or federation of existing freezing companies ; (2) to uegotiate with shipping companies as to freights and kindred matters : (3) to inspect, report and act as to the suitability and class of ships employed in the trade and in regard to insulation, etc. ; (4) to attend to grading, insurance and watch unloading in London, arrange for storage accommodation at the uearest port of discharge and thus enable the supply to be regulated, and also save many handlings aud cost of barges and delays caused thereby ; (5) to arrange for the concentration of the trade in Great Britain and elsewhere and to open up new distributing centres ; (6) to issue debentures for the purchase of existing works new plant or establishing other works arjd for raising the necessary capital * (7) to provide a sinking fund for repayment of debentures. Resolved — That in order to achieve the objects set forth in the foregoing resolution, this conference desires Government to introduce a Bill empowering such company to levy a tax upon all sheep in the colony, the maximum levy iv any one year to be (blank) per head, shares to be allocated to each stock holder in proportion to the amount of his paid up sheep tax. That a committee consisting of members be appointed to carry out the above resolutions, such committee to have pewer to appoint a sub-committee for each Islapd,
