MIGRATION OF FARMERS. (PER PHKSS ASSOCIATION). iIEr.BOURN'K, August 10. The migration of farmers from Yarrawon^.i and the surrounding districts to New South Wales continues. Many, especially young men, have already departed, and others are preparing to be ready to leave when the New South Wales land has been thrown open for selection under the new Bill. The men are chiefly locating themselves in Southern Riverina, and the halving system is being extensively adopted. The fire on the steamer Orient was practically extinguished without spreading. Most of the cargo in the forehold was destroyed, and the internal fittings of the vessel much damaged. ' A charge of gelignite placed in the letterbox of the office of the Dalesford Advocate exploded and partially wrecked the building. Fourteen other charges which were not exploded were found in the building. Hobaet, August 10. Obituary— Thos. Clesby, ot Avoca, aged 111.
