The regular monthly meeting of the I above Committee was held last evening. Present — Messrs H. Worsfold (chairman), A. W. Parker (secretary), \Y. (J. Haybittle, W. G. Shearer nnrl C. Bray. The minutes of the provi^us mooting v were read and confirmed. Correspondence was received and dealt with as follows : — From A. W. Parker, complaining of the manner in which his little girl (9 years old) was treated by Miss Hainos, «in assistant teacher ; also, against the way in whicl: he was treated by the headmaster when he (Mr Parker) went . to the school to take the child, who was kept iv after 3 o'clock, away. ' From J. H. Stevens, postmaster, en- ' closing post office savings bank pence ' cards with a request that they be given ' to the teachers to bring before the notice : of the children. The headmaster's report was read ! showing none of the staff had been absent during the past month. The ' attendance for the past four weeks was 291 and the roll number 247. He had made enquiries into the complaints (children not being allowed to leave the room) made by Messrs W. G. Shearer and A. W. Parker aud found that the teachers of those classes had exercised as much care aud discretion as could be expected. Iv the case of S. Shearer the teacher (Miss A. Watts) was sure he ' did not ask. This he (the head teacher) had no reason to doubt. In the other case (that of F. Parker) the accident evidently arose from several children asking to leave the room at once. The teacher (Miss G. Watts) would necessarily have to exercise her owu judgment as to which went first. Apologies for non-attendance were read from Messrs J. Taylor, W. Carthew, and J. Gould. Accounts amounting to £6 4s Gd were passed for payment. The log book was read showing that James Watts was appointed cadet, Mr Watson appointed pupil teacher, aud Miss G. Watts was removed to another schooi. Mr Haybittle took exception to entries made iv, the log book during May, to the effect that he (Mr Haybittle) aud Mr Thompson, the Visiting Committee for that mouth, while visiting the school had interrupted the teachers in their duties. Mr Haybittle explained that they iirst weut to see Mr Hill, the headmaster, and asked to be shown through the school. Mr Hill asked to be excused and he (Mr Haybiltlc) and Mr Thompson went through tho school by themselves aud spoke to Miss Brunette about a blind. He thought the Committee should not pass this matter without enquiry, aud resented such entries being made. Mr Thompson also objected to tho bea/l master's comments aud supported the previous speaker. After discussion, the Visiting Committee's version aud contradiction were entered in the log book. The complaint lodged by Mr Parker was, after discussion, left over till next meeting for further consideration. Mr Parker gave notice of motion to - move at the next meeting, " That the ' Waugauui Education Board be requested to remove Mr Hill and Miss Haiuos." The meeting then adjourned.
