Wellington Land Board.

Interests forfeited, owing to leases not being signed : - C. Selby and A. 11. Whibley, Delaware ; J. B. Whisker and A. Campion, Salisbury. » Mr F. Richards waited on the Board to ask if he would be allowed to subdivide his small grazing run of 2100 acres in the Upper Pohangina. He explained that there were 600 acres of valuable bush on the land, which could be conserved for timber purposes, and a purchaser was willing to take steps to preserve it if he could get a transfer ; therefore it would be a pity to compel the destruction of this timber, which would be the result under present conditions. — The Board expressed regret that the Act did no allow subdivision, except among members of the lessee's family, but would give permission to sublet, if desired, the effect of which, of course, would not absolve him from seeing that the conditions of the lease were fulfilled. John Fowler's application for title for section 1490, Buuuythorpe, was granted. It was decided to hold an inquiry into the transfers applied for in Marton No. 1 Association, owing to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the matter. T. H. Bredin's application for title for section 14, Block XIV, Ongo, was granted. It was decided to allow A. Hickford to transfer section 7, Block 1, Utnutoi to F. J. Bloomlield, providing a statutory declaration similar to his statement is put in. It was resolved that an inquiry be held into the relations existing between Messrs A. F. Wade and H. C. Bennett, Awahuri, in reference to section 21, Block XVI, Hautapu. It was decided to hold an inquiry at Marton into the boua fides of the members of the Marton Special Settlement. A circular was received from the Minister pointing out over of arrears are due in the Wellington district on Crown lands and urging the forfeiture of sections where over two years' payments are duo.
