A BUTTER PATENT.
MADAGASCAR SUES FOR PEACE. A MARRIAGE IN HIGH LIFE. THE EDUCATION QUESTION IN BELGIUM. (Per Press Association). London, July 29. A strong syndicate proposes to acquire Sewell's butter patent. Mr McCreedy has consented to extend the option of purchase until 10th September, pending council's opinion being obtained regarding the legality of the patent. It is stated that Madagascar is secrefcly suing for peace. The anti-European feeling in the country has increased. A. B. Forwood, secretary to the Admiraltj'- in the last Salisbury Government, has been created a Baronet. The Duke of Argyll was married to Miss McNeill to-day. Brussels, July 29. Some 100,000 delegates, representing the whole of Belgium, have assembled in the capital to consider the education quer^ tion. The meeting is conducted in an orderly and impressive manner. Resolutions have been passed protesting against yielding the control of education to priests, and demanding that it be made national and compulsory.
