■ O ' Messrs Gorton & Son report : — Good entries of cattle and sheep made up our sale at Feilding last Friday. Attendance and market were both good and a considerable portion of the business was done under the hammer. Our quotations are : — Cattle— Fat cows, £5 U to £5 10s, forward cows, M ; 2-year steers £2 15s ; 18-months to 2-year heifers, £2 ss; 18---months mixed, 38s 6d ; weaners and yearlings, 20a to 31s; milkers, £± to '£5 ss. Sheep - 4-hooih wethers, 9s Id ; store wethers, 8s 7d to 8s lOd ; ewes in lamb various prices from 5s 8d to 9a Id ; fat ewes, 6s 9d to 7s 2d ; fat sheep, 7s 3d to 9s ; lambs, various prices from 4s 9d to 6s 9d. The Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited) report : — We bad a larger entry of cattle than was expected at Stratford on the 19th instant, though they were mostly young stock of the dairy class. Working bullocks, £6 10s ; 2-year steers, L 2 5s to L 2 10s ; dairy cows and heifers, L 3 7s 6d to L 5 ; store cows, L 2 14s to L 3 Is 6d • 2-year heifers, L 2 5s to L 3 ; weaners, mixed sexes, LI Is 6d to LI 7s 6a. Our Hawera sale was held on Wednesday, the 24th instant, and though the full entry of fat sT&ck was yarded other lines were prevented from coming owing to the bad state of the roads. For store and young stock bidding was fairly brisk, aud in most cases owners' reserves were reached. We quote— Fat bullocks, L 6 toLi6 I4s; forward bullocks L 4 16s to L 5 10s ; 2 to 2£ year steers, L36s to L 4 Is ; 18-months to 2-year steers, L 3 3s to L 3 7s 6d ; dairy heifers, L 2 10s to L 3 ; weaners, LI 2s to LI 6s. Sheep— Lambs, small, 4s 4d.
District Meeting of Oddfellows The half-yearly meeting was held in the Lodge room, Ohingaiti, on Friday evening last. There were ! presort -District Grand Master Bro. i Boht. Belf, P.ii'.nerston N., in the I oliair, with D.D.G.M. Bro. Parker, I Fei ding, in the vice chair ; District I Conesponding Secretary, Bro J. Salek of Wanganui. The Lodges in the I district were represented by the following delegates : — Palmeraton, P.P.GM. Bro. Woods and O.M. Bro. Browning ; Wanganui — P.P.G.M. Bro. Thoa Bamber and P.P.G.M. Bro. Juhn Wright; Manchester, Feildmg — W.G. V>rc G. Thurgood, and P.G. Bro. H. J. Ellis; Aahurst— P.G. Bro J. S. Carver ; Awarua, Ohingaiti, by Yd. Bro. Eobt. Mclndoe. The Apiti Lodge was represented by P.G. Bro. J. P. Aklridge. The usual routine business was gone through, and the balance-sheet received as read. The District Sick and Funeral Fund showed a credit balance of £122, and the District Management Fund a deb.it balance of £10 10s. This was regarded as satisfac:ory, as very heavy calls had been made on both. It was d- cided to strike the following district levies : — Old members, Sick and Funeral Fuud, Is, new member?, Is 3d ; Management Fund, all members, 2s. Correspondence was received from the Otago LtKUp-r-Q the pTepbsed conferonco of district delegates to discuss the questions of a uniform scale of contributions for tho colony, mutual benefits and surrender values. Tho writer urged that immediate 6teps be i taken in this direction. Bros. Bamber and Wood were then I appointed to represent the district at tho conference. Bro Bamber reported on the progross of the new bye law?. He said that the greatest difficulty had oc curred in getting the new rules registered, as the revising barrister had objected to rules which were already registered, as it had to be proved that they were faulty. However, ho expected any moment to get news oi their ros>htra'aon, as the last correction . had been made a fortnight previously. Thurgood. PV.G, P.E.S ; Bro. R Bowick, P.E.S. ! Bros. Aldridge and Ellis received q the Purple Lecture. The meeting closed at 10 p.m , having sat from 6 30 p.m , and was most successful.
