At the half-yearly meeting of the Takapuna Extended Coal Mining Company a dividend of »ne shilling per share was declared (£1,200). A conference representing 22 local bodies, was held to-day to consider the inspection of dairies and the appointment of an inspector in the interests of the public health. A committee was aDpointed to consider regulations. "Wanganui, July 27. The first half-yearly meeting of theDistrict Grand Lod^e of Druids for the the North Island corarnenced to-day. Representatives were present as follows : — Mackay, Wellington, D.G. ; P. Jennings, Auckland; Reid, Totira ; Morgan, Wanganui ; Sykes, Wanganni ; Hodgson, Oroua ; Thompson, Blenheim ; Hubble, Turanganui ; Snadden, "Wellington ; McKenna, Patea ; Thompson, Marton ; Gardiner, Otaki ; Bloist, Horowhenua.
