LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

[Per Press Association.] Wellington, July 25. The Council met at 2.30. The Hon. Mr McGregor moved that in the opinion of this Council, the Grand Jury is unnecessary, and that the Government be requested to bring down a Bill next session giving effect to the opinion of the Council. Sir P. Buckley said he did not think the abolition of the Graud Jury system cmild be effected without altering the whole Jury Act, and on his suggestion the debate was adjourned so that he might confer with his colleagues on the question. When the Council resumed, the Imprest Supply Bill for £302,000 was passed through all it stages, and the Council adjourned.
