The Awarua Block.

On the subject of the Awarua Block about to be thrown open for selection by the Government, the Paraekaretu Express is very outspoken. Our contemporary admits the soil is good but the natural features of the country render it unsuitable for settlement in small areas. The Block has been over rated. People have spoken of it as if it were rich ploughable country but as a matter of fact it is merely good for pastoral purposes) and is neither betles nor worse than most of the land in the upper portion of the Rangitikei County. To put a fancy price upon the Block would be taking advantage of a popular delusion founded upon reports of persona who know nothing at all about the locality.
