«. [FKOjr OUfi OWN CORRESPONDENT, i The members of the Excelsior Lodge met on Thursday evening and the subject of holding a convention iv Palmerstou under the auspices of the 1.0. G.T. Lodges next month was discussed. It was resolved that the anniversary tea be next month, of which due notice will be givea. This year's anniversary will be a great success, providing the weather is fine. A Band of Hope meeting will be held on Wednesday next wbon the Good Templars have promised to supply the programme. Many of the farmers baye been taking the advantage of the fine "weather this week, and a great deal of cropping has been done, the larger portion of seeds sown consists of oats. Some very cunning fellows have been connected with ' fowl stealing ' here. It has been found out that the wheels of the trap they had were muffled, so as to prevent any noise being made along the road. One of the raids was made on a roost consisting of thirty fowls, and the thieves bore their booty away in safety.
