♦ MANY KILLED AND OTHERS WOUNDED. (Per Press Association | . Sydney, July 18. A terrible catastrophe occurred in the South Broken Hill mine this afternoon. The day shift was engaged at the 400fjb level, on the sulphide slopes, and as the ground looked dangerous the men were called out, and they retired to what was regarded as a safe position when an immense fall of earth took pjace. The men were safe fr<jm this, but the pressure of the falling mass caused a terrific blast of air, which threw the men about like nine-pins, dashing them against the timber with great violence.
