July Before Mr R. L. Stanford, S.M. J. W. Ranson v. A. Toms; claim £9 4s Gd. Mr Reade for plaintiff. Judgment for amount claimed with costs Bs, solicitor's fee 15s 6d. J. Miller v. A. Hannett; claim £3 12s Bd. Mr Reade for plaintiff. Judgment for amount claimed with costs os, solicitor's fee ss. A. Mcßeth v. R. S. Fowler; a judgment summons, claim £12 8s Otl. Mr Prior for plaintiff and Mr Reade for defendant. No order was made as defendant was not in regular employment and had no mean* 3. Stevens and Gorton v. Tapira Mitina ; a judgment summons, claim £16 7s 4d. Mr Sandilands for plaintiff An order was made tthat the amount be paid forthwith and the order suspended for one month, in default one month's imprisonment. Mr Sandilands, instructed by Mr Esam for the defendant, applied for a change of venue in the case Hanson v. R. E. Beckett, from the Feilding Court to the Marton or Hunterville Court. Mi- Prior opposed the application. The application was re fused. Dr T. H. Harris v. G. Millan ; claim £8 Bs. Mr Reade for plaintiff and Mr Sandilands for defendant. £5 5s was paid into Court and three guineas were disputed as excessive charge. Drs Harris and Johnston gave evidence in support of the claim. Defendant deposed ihat he understood the charge was to be £5 5s and had offered to pay this amount. Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs 16s, solicitor's fee 21s, witness' expenses 10s 6d. The police charged A. Pringle that he neglected to register the birth of a child born on April G, 1894. This was a charge to enable the Registrar of Births to register the birth. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 2s Gd and 7s costs. R. Burnc v. T. M. Jackson ; a judgment summons, claim .£l4 17s 9d. MlPrior for plaintiff, and Mr Reade for defendant, who was not present, owing, his solicitor stated, to illness. Mr Prior doubted the accuracy of the statement, and contended, au order should be made for the payment of the amount, as judgment was obtained for recovery of goods held under lease. His Worship ruled he could make no order, judgment debtor being a bankrupt, and that the proper way to recover would be through the Official Assignee. A. li. Briscoe v. A. D. and F. B. Brandon ; claim £36 15s Bd. Mr Sandilands appeared for plaintiff. In this case the evidence of plaintiff only was taken, the case to be decided in the Wellington Court. A. IT. Briscoe, deposed : About ISB9 purchased some property from Mr T. C. Williams, part of native section 346, township of Carnarvon, containing 500 acres ; while negotiations were pending he was told there were no back rates ; after completing the purchase he received a letter from the solicitor for the i Manawatu County Council, claiming for back rates; at the time of completing the purchase he received all undertaking j from Mr Brandon that all back rates i would be paid ; the amount of rates due at the time referred to was £58 15s 8d ; an action was brought to recover the rates, and .£3 costs were incurred, which he paid ; after paying the rates received a refund of £24 from Mr T. C. Williams, who refused to pay the balance ; now claimed £36 15s Bd, the amount of rates and costs incurred. W. A. Sandilands deposed to certain letters whicb|passed between him, as solicitor for plaintiff, and defendants who acted for T. C Williams. This was all the business and the Court adjourned.
