ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF M. STAMBULOFF. (Per Press Association). Sofia, July 16. A dastardly attempt was made on the life of M. Stambuloff to day while returning to his home in the city. Four men stopped the carriage and attempted to assassinate the Premier, both of whose hands were severed in defending himself. He tried to effect an escape by fleeing, but was shot down and stabbed when lying oh the ground. His ' condition is critical. One arrest has been made. i
