Charge Against a Policeman.
_■ — (Per Press Associaiton.) Dunedin, July 16. Constable William Davis was fined 50s and costs to-day on a charge of assaulting a woman. Five citizens, who were standing outside the Club, swore they saw Davis kick the woman very severely before arresting her. The constable's explanation was that as he was going home in plain clothes with fruit under one arm, the woman caught hold of him and as he had his hands'- ull, he sle wed round and struck her On the nip with j : big knfee to make her Jet ga,
