Mr Reid opened the campaign in the King electorate and met an enthusiastic reception. Sir H. Parkes has issued a manifesto, which chiefly consists of a bitter attack on Mr Reid and his policy. He makes an appeal on behalf of Federation, which he claims is the true Freetrade, and strongly advocates local Government, and a proper system to put an end to the vexed unemployed difliculties. The drawing of the St. Alban's lottery is expected to take place in two months.
