OEDINARY MEETING.
Resolved, That the matter of Mr C. Lucas' petition be adjourned for discus* sion till next meeting. Resolved, That the chairman be instructed to represent this Council as delegate to the N.Z. Counties Association to be held in Wellington on July 30th. 6 J Proposed by Cr Selby, seconded by Cr Brown, That the secretary write to Messrs Adsett and Roberts requesting them to put the road from Mr Sinclair^ to the township, it having been damaged by carting timber, in a proper state of repair; and, also, replace the timber used for repairing of the bridge ; also, the extra cost of repairing same, under superyision of the Council's Engineer, the road having been damaged by extraordinary traffic. — Carried. Resolved, That the secretary inform the Fitzherbert Road Board that this Council regrets being unable to allow their Engineer to perform outside work owing to his time being fully occupied. Proposed by Cr Vicary, seconded by Cr Bell, That ibis Council agree to the request of the-Feilding Borough Council regarding delay in the erection of the Kiwitea bridge provided that the claim on this Council for cost of same is not increased thereby. — Carried. Resolved, That the offer of R. Geange to fell all the bush on the road lines in the Apiti township be accepted and the Engineer lay off and measure the said bush at his first opportunity. Proposed by Cr Wagstaff, seconded by Cr Fraser, That the Government be requested to grant a subsidy of £ for £ towards the cost of clearing and stumping about two miles of road in Tamaki riding leading to Delaware Block.—Carried. Resolved, That this Council apply to the Wanganui Harbor Board for the lease *> of a section in the Pohangina township on which to build a suitable residence for the use of the Council's Clerk. ,S Proposed by Cr Brown, seconded by Cr Dickin, That the special rate for payment of interest on loan in late No. 1 ward (Mangaone and Pohangina ridings) be collected as formerly in one instalment, payable on August 15tb, 1895. Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to sue for all outstanding rates due in the Umutoi riding for the year 1894-95. Resolved, That the Secretary write to the Minister of Lands asking him to have all the municipal reserves handed over to this Council to look after pending their being permanently vested in the municipal authorities. Resolved, That the Engineer bo instructed to obtain, for the use of the Awahou riding,- a timber jack and metal rake. . ; Resolved, That as Mr Hagner has not signed the agreement for contract for drain at Apiti, the secretary call npon the next lowest tenderer to take up the contract. Resolved, That this Council cannot undertake further expense re advertising, and that the Standard and Advocate still remain the advertising medium only, unless for anything special. - Resolved, That the bond of Mr Hayns and Mr Arbon for .£5OO be 'accepted as security for discharge of the duties of Mr Hayns as treasurer and rate-collector, same to be lodged in bank in the name of all the councillors. Resolved, That this Council receive the communication from the Mangere Road Board regarding contribution to Hospital and Charitable Aid Board .and instruct their chairman to draw attention to this matter at the approaching meeting of the County Councils' Association. Resolved, That Crs Wagstaff and Bell affix seal to rate-rolls for special rates in Temaki, Pohangina, and Coal Creek ridings. Resolved, That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and call fox tenders for the erection of a bridge over the Pohui stream, Awahou riding.. s; NOTICES OF MOTION. To be moved at next meeting :— That in view of the discharge of T. Taylor from the office of roadman by the late Board, this Council now sanctions his appointment by the Engineer as roadman in the Mangaone and Pohangina ridings to work half time in each, or a3 required in conjunction with J. Harrison, now roadman in Mangaone riding. That the following bye-law be made, viz., any Conncillor having consented to form part of a committee and neglects to attend the meeting at the time and place appointed without sufficient cause, be deemed guilty of an offence against this bye-law. That it is undesirable that any formal resolution of this Council should be altered or varied in any way_ by any members of the Council in their private capacity. Accounts were passed for payment and the Council adjourned.
