-♦- — - The monthly meeting of the above was held on Wednesday last. Present — Crs Ransom (chairman), Taylor, Masters, Robinson, Hammond, Strang. Tne minutes of tbe previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the Clerk reported the election of Cr D. W. Strang for the Awahou riding. The following correspondence was read and dealt with : — From A. Bottcher, Campbelltown, asking permission to erect a gate upon Weir street. From Clerk of Manawatu Road Board, forwarding statement of expenditure on Awahuri bridge. From P. Desmond, and others, draw. ing attention to the coudition of the road between Feilding Borough boundary and Aorangi traffic bridge. From Frank Owen, surveyor, with signed voucher for £10 15s for Oroua river protective works. From Secretary to the Sandon Small Birds Nuisance Club asking for a grant of £15 for ensuing year. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Taylor, That Mr A. Bottcher be allowed to place a gate upon Weir street in terms of the letter of July sth, the same to be removed at any time on receiving uotice from tho Council. — Carried. Resolved, That the Sluggish River Board be written to, asking wheu the title to the road at Oroua Bridge will be ready so that the road can be formed. Resolved, That the gap be Slled in as requested by the Sluggish River Board on Main Draiu road. Resolved, That the sum of £10 be granted to the Small Birds Nuisance Club for 1895. Messrs Phillips and Stewart waited on the Council wdth reference to water flooding their lands, and asked that a drain be opened by the Council which would conduct the water into the Mangaone. The opening of the drain, it was contended, would injure no one, and would relieve all the properties. It was decided to leave the matter with the
