LAND FOE SMALL FARMS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB. Sir. —Would it not be well if the Feilding people would take a hint from the action of the Campbelltown folk re their petitioning the Government to acquire an adjoining estate for small farm purposes ? There are some good business m«n in that district who leave no stone unturned that is likely to advance its interests. More power to them! Feilding is, unfortunately, hemmed in by large estates un each side which would be rapidly taken up and occupied by a prosperous and town-making population, if they were available for small farms at a fair market price. Now, sir, I would suggest that our Borough Couucil —as is fitting —take the initiative in this matter by passing a resolution affirming the desirability of the Government purchasing the estates of Messrs Lethbridge aod Pharazyn; for small faima, and also starting a petition which, doubtless, would be readily signed by the Burgesses. Perhaps while Parliament is assembled would be a good time to agitate this important business. I am, etc., PROGRESS.
