Wanganui Education Board.
The Board met last night. Present Messrs Carson (Chairman), Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Hurley, Fry and F. Pirani, M.H.R. The statement of the Board's fund showed a dr- balance of building account of .£1320. Ashurst — Mrs Mellish's appointment was confirmed. Pemberton— H. F. Stansell applied for removal. His name to be sent to Mangonoho. Rangiwahia —Mr Rule was appointed on the Committee's recommendation. Nikau — Mr C. T. Warne's resignation was accepted. Marton — A. Mousey, pupil teacher, to be transferred to Marton. Annie Silby to be promoted to junior assist-ant-ship at Foxton. Campbeli-street — J. O. Lilly to be appointed to probation at this school. Pukeroa — J. Matthews to be noted for promotion. Pupil teachers — Sydney Watkins to be transferred temporarily from Apiti to Feikling, John O'Reilly to take his place ; Gertrude Watts to be appointed to Ohingaiti ; James Watts to be appointed cadet at Feilding. Pupil teachers'examination — On the Inspectors' recommendation, Samuel Campbell was granted a pass in the second class and Olive Aid ridge in the third class, and that Ivy Watt and Ethel George be informed that if they pass first class next year they will be relieved from the additional year's service. Bonuses of £3 each were granted to Arthur Bates (Normanby), Alice Bartlett (Otakeho), and Christina Snelling (Kakaraniea). A letter was received from Mr J. H. Stevens, of Feilding, asking an opinion re home lessons and a pupil whose eyes are bad ; resolved that the Board declines to give an opinion on a suppositions case. Resolved, That Sydney "Watkin be informed that the Board notes his failure to pass the examinations and the unfavor able report received from his headteacher, and that if the report is not more favorable at the end of this quarter his engagement will be terminated. Beef Creek— Letter from Mr Messiter, j teacher ; referred to Executive ! Notice of Motion — Mr Bridge gave notice to move at next meeting, " That, iho Inspector be instructed that for the i future suggestions with regard to iin- I proved methods of teaching instead of being embodied in their reports be sent separately to the head teachers for their information and for the information of their subordinate teachers.
