V.R.C. WINTER MEETING.
(Per o. J rc«B Association). AI i-LRoriiNE, July (i At the opening day of the V.R.C.'s winter meeting the weather was line and there w.'is a hirgo attendance. The principal event, the Grand National Hurdles, resulted as follows :— Eminalia (Brewer), 1 ; Woonoke (Tyc), 2 ; Muscovite (Fc-rgusson), o. Rosestcni, Bill, and Question were scratched. Betting — 4 to 1 against Ripple, 6 to 1 Emniaiia, 10 to 1 Muscovite. A capital start was effected, and along by tho river Gratiauo was in front, but then Kangaroo II took up the running and led up to passing the stand tho second time when he gave way to Bischoff, who led Irom Ripple and Kangaroo. Entering the straight Emmalia was handy and at half the distance, having everything beaten, came away and won easily by two and a half lengths. Time, 4uim. 45.!, sec. A wager of 1200 to H4 has been accepted in Wangauui about Irish Twist for the New Zealand Cup.
