Terrible Tragedy.

A MAN MURDERS HIS THREE CHILDREN. (Per Press Association). Sydney, June 27.. A shocking tragedy occurred at Redfern this morning. A man named Thos. Brown, a greengrocer, met tho Rev. Mr Dowd and told him be had cut the throats of his three children — Thomas, six years of age, Charlotte, five years, and Joseph, three years — early in the day, and had left them in the house ready for burial. As Brown was apparently suffering from drink, Mr Dowd did not believe him, but a* the man showed a blood stained razor with which he had done the deed, and said he intended to surrender himself to the police after he had seen his wife. He considered that there was something in the statement. Mr Dowd then informed the police, wbo visited tli9 house aud found the poor children lying in the bed dead, their heads bound up in white cloths aud tonible gashes in their throats. Meanwhile Brown had gone to the polic. station and asked them to go to tho house, but he was supposed to bo drunk and no attention was paid to him. "When he was eventually arrested he produced a razor and .said he had murdered tha children to save them suffering. Mrs Brown left her husband a few weeks ago owing to his ill treatment and neglect and went to live with another man. Brown discovered her whereabouts and haunted the house aud threatened vengeance. He went there this morning and demanded to see his wife and hinted he had committed the deed to make her regret her abandonment of the children. It is bo'ieved he also intended to murder hor. Since his wife left him, Brown has been drinking heavily.
