LORD SALISBURY KISSES THE QUEENS HANDS.
London, June 26. Lord Salisbury had an audience with the Queen at Windsor to-day, when he kissed Her Majesty's hands. Mr Balfour becomes First Lord of the Treasury and Mr Chamberlain Secretary of State for the Colonial Department.
Sydney, June 25. Michael Da\itt, interviewed upon the policy crisis at Home, said the defeat of the Kosebery Government was a snatch victory. As soon as he knew of the crisis he cabled to McCarthy, asking if he should return to England and received a reply that the need was urgent as a general election was imminent. Davltt will therefore abandon his Australasian tour and return immediately. This Day. Mr Da\itt leaves for Ireland via •Frisco by the July steamer.
