Fire at Wanganui.

NARROW ESCAPE OF THE INMATES. (Per i J ress Association). Wanganui, June 34. A fire broke out early this mornin' in a building occupied by Mr Collard fruiterer, in the Avenue. The alarn was given by a dog. The inmates hat a narrow escape. A woman and twe children were lowered through the up stairs window by a sheet. A child, ,4 years old, fell from a window to the pavement, but no bones were broken, Mrs Collard and child were much • shaken. The inmates were almost suffocated, and only escaped in scanty clothing. The place was completely gutted and everything was lost. Collard's stock and furniture were insured for £150, and the building for £200 in the Mutual office. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
