Nolan, Tonks and Co. report :— At the horse fair, on 15th, good enquiry existed for draught horses, which sold from to £18 ; good weight carrying hacks, £9 10s to £19. At Eltham, on 17th inst., there was a small entry. Bidding for young cattle was brisk, and mostly sold at the hammer. At Hawera on 20th inst. we did not have a large entry, but bidding was exceptionally keen, prices showing a decided advance on late rates. At Eltham - Fat cows, L 4 to L 4 10a ; forward springers, L 4 103 to Lsss ; calves, 10s 6d to I3s ; weaners, 18s to 22s 6d ; springing heifers, L 3 12s 6d to L - 15s. At Hawera on 18th June— Heifers; L 3 183 to 1/4 4s; forward springers, E4 10s to L 5; fat cows, L 4 to L 4 5s ; store cows, L 3 to L 3 8s ; weaners, 25s to 29s ; yearlings, 37s to 42s ; 18-month heifers, L 2 to L2ss ; 2yr steers, L2Bsto L 2 ss ; dairy cows, L 4 to 15s.
