THE RANGIWAHIA MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sik,— In answer to the writer who signs himself " One who is not a Bachelor," but is evidently ashamed to acknowledge himself a married man, or to sign his name to his letter — a thing I am not afraid of doing, I ask Why should our Engineer expect such a warm reception as the Chairman of the Education Boajd had, seeing that our roads are in such good order as " One who is not a Bachelor " implies they are ? I must correct one error which appears in Mr Baker's report of the meeting, held on the 21st of May, in the Pf mberton Schoolhouse. Mr Pemberton, it is stated, was obliged to sit down, presumably without being allowed a hearing. Now, how could a person peg eff tho whole length of the road through tbo district in imaginary soil on the schoolroom floor, and yet not effect a hearing ? Besides, lie talked a Jut at random, about pii vate affairs that any man would have been ashamed to discuss at his won fireside, much less at a public meeting. He even went so far as to mention people's names separately, until called to order by Mr iicKinuon, as the Chairman, for a time, forgot his duties. Mr Baker was not thn gentleman who was referred to by me as "Mr Huler, Czar of Russia," but it was intended for tho person who stood up at the moeting of householders, and said "I din ru'er h>rc " in as pompous a manner, as he could command. Let the writerof the letter in your issue of the 12th June, come forward and tell me to my faco that I am not the man who wrote tho letter which appeared above my name in your paper lately. I will then give him convincing proof that I am. I will take no further notico of " One who is net a Bacheloi's " letters, if he is not man enough to sign his nau;e to his effusions. "You, sir, cmtaiuly mut-t tiy and do something deGnito to alloviate the grieved person's inicd to savo yourself from further potty bickeiings." What a command for a free and independent editor to receive from ihe Czar oi lvussia, or his confederates ! Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc , D. Ritzmann, Eangiwahia, June 22nd, 1895.
