] Per Press Association j Auckland, June 21. A man named Fleming, denf and dumb living with the Maoris near Mongapai, was lost in the bush between there and Takatokn. It is believed he peri-hed owing to the severe weather. A sparch party found no traces of him. The City Council extended the time for the acceptance of the terms of the Council re the electric tram system by an English syndicate to the end of December, the completion of work to be 18 months from that date. A great deal of Southern money is coming to Auckland at present for investment in mining shares. Dunedin, Jnn« 21. At a meeting of the Unemplowd Relief Committee it was reported that I^o men had applied for work, of which 200 have so far been engaged. Nelson, June 21. To-night foreman Thos. Wmisptt, for 28 years connected with the Nelson vo'nnteer lire brigade, was presented with a gold star medal. Griffen's biscuit factory and conf.- etionery works, which were burned dour, some months ngo are about to be re erected, n public company having been formed to carry on operations.
