Improvement in the Price of Stock.

» — Messrs Abraham and AVilliams held their monthly stuck sale at Colyton yesterday, everything being sold at a marked advance in prices, especially sheep, which were readily sought after and in most cases at a substantial rise above vendors' reserves. If this improvement continues it will to some extent remove the depression in all classes of industries, and more particularly to the farming community, who have suffered severely for the past eighteen months. The Chrischurcb papers report a great improvement in the stock market at last Wednesday's sale. In store sheep the boom was quickly dis cernible. Forward sheep touched 10s 4d, and there was, says one report, an apparently insatiable demand for lines of store lambs. Good turnipers made 8s 9d. Young ewes in lamb realised up to 9s 6d. Generally an all round advance for store sbep was noted. In fat sheep good freezers were scarce, and for one lot 13s 4d was reached. Altogether the sale was a good one, and, what is more, tbe competition was maintained to the bitter end. This is good news indeed, says the Manawatu Times. We see no reason why a distinct improvement should not take place in tbe North Island also, and we expect to find that prices will harden at once.
