o (Per Press Association). Invercargill, June 17. William Lambert was found guilty of per] ury in the case in which J. J. Meikle was sentenced to 7 jears penal servitude by Judge Ward for sheep stealing. He was sentenced to-day to 4 years hard labor. Judge Williams pointed out that had the offence been committed after tho Criminal Code came into operation Lam* hert would haye been liable to imprisonment for life. The offence, however, was committed before tlie Code came into force, and the greatest punishment undor the law was four years
