A Contractor Sent to Gaol.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, June 15. At the criminal sessions CharJe3 Harley, contractor, was sentenced to 12 months' hard labour and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution for attempting to dissuade witnesses from giving evidence in a certain assault case at Paeroa. His Honor severely on the gravity of the offence, and pointed out that prisoner had made his case worse by perjuring himself in the witness box.
