The Auckland Gold Boom.
(per press association.) Auckland, June 16. The mining excitement is increasing and the values of all stock are rising. A block of 100 acres at Waitekauri, called the Alpha Extended, running towards the Golden Cross, has been taken up. The Freedom and Perseverance mines, adjacent to the Alpha Extended, now known as the Birbank, have been sent to the London market. The proprietors of the Grace Darling mine, Waitekauri, have acquired the Progress property for 9000 reserve shares in the former property. The Maori Dream (Kuao Tunu) shareholders have decided to place the property of 100 acres in the hands of Mr F. A. White, with a view of placing same on the market. The inspection of the May Queen mine by Mr Dunn, reresenting foreign investors, has been completed, and a favorable report is anticipated. The Earl of Glasgow mine, Karangahake, adjoining the Talisman, Crown, and United Ben has been purchased by a Melbourne synpicate. There is a general move upwards in all these stocks. The Band of Hope, Mangakara, Great Extended, and Golden Gate, holdings have been amalgamated, in order that they may be placed on the London market. The Big Ben, adjoining the Golden Hill Extended at Manaia, has been floated. It is reported that gold has been found at Waihou, in the Hokiauga district, in payable quantities. As the location of the present workings is auriferous for some miles, it is possible the far north may soon boom.
