London Wool Market.
» (Pci 1 Press Assoc afc-oa.) London, June 15. At the Bradford wool sales the market shows a better spirit, and prices are firmer.
Messrs Barraud and Abraham forward the following : — Our London agents, Messrs K. T. Turn bull and Co., writing via Brindisi mail, under date May 3rd, report as follows: — The opening of the third series of wool sales on 30th ultimo proved disappointing, and was a surprise to everybody, as the prospects seemed and still seem fair, with the trade well employed and plenty of wool going into steady consumption. The tone has improved these last two nights, and hopes are expressed that the tone will be recovered. The third series opened with two catalogues, compri sing 13,905 bales, including 4,191 from New Zealand. The attendance of buyers from all quarters was fairly numerous, bnt the tone of competition was somewhat wanting in animation. As regards Australasian wool the better classes of merino staple, whether scoured or in grease, as well as light conditioned lustrous and deep- grown crossbreds, showing but little alteration from the closing rates of last series. Medium and faulty descrip tions, however, of all kinds, realize prices five per cent lower than March parity. In sympa'hy with this, we regret to say, the greater part of your shipments from the • bush districts ' suffered accordingly.
