Addington market (Christchurch) : — Fat cattle — The yarding consisted of about 200 head, mostly medium beef. Bidding fairly brisk, and prices about on par with last week. Dairy cows — Average entry ; bidding was slightly more animated, and the hulk sold at from £6 10s to £9 5s for best kinds, and from £3 to £4 10s for other sorts. Fat sheep — Fair average entry boih for quality and numbers ; bidding throughout the sale waa spirited, and good prices were obtained for most lines ; best crossbred wethers making from lis to 13s 4d ; medium 9s 9d to 1 2s 6d * crossbred ewes, 8s to 10s 6d; extra heavy weights, lls9d to 13s ld; merino wethers to 8s 3d. Fat lambs — IJmall entry, which sold well up to Us 6d, being obtained for a few very prime sort. Sheep — A fairly large yarding of all classes, and bidding showed a further improvement, especially for any good lots, 2 tooths making from 7s 6d to 9s 6d, and one very forward condition lot going to 10s 4d. Pigs — A full yard. At the start of the sale prices were about on a par with last week's but bidding eased to-wards the finish at 2£d per lb. Messrs Lowes and lorns report on tbeir stock sale at Masterton last Thursday : — There was a good attendance, and again the stock yarded was greatly in excess of advertised entries, and of fair to good quality. Bidding was a little slack at the commencement, but improved as tbe sale progressed, A few pens of sheep were passed at the hammer but were quickly placed privately. The following prices were realised — Mixed fat and forward wefhers, 7s 3d, 7s 9d and 8s ; store wethers, 2-tooth, 5s 6d to 6s 6d ; small do, 9s. Heavy fat ewes, 8s : ordinary, do, 6s to 6s 6d ; breeding ewes, 4s lOd to 6s ; full-mouth ditto, 4s to ss ; old ditto, 2s 6d to 3s 9d. Lambs, ls 5d to 3s 9d. In cattle, 3-yr beef steers, £5 19s ; fat cow*, £5 ls ; springing heifers, 75s to 82s 6d ; 2£-yr steers, 80s ; cows, 55s tc 80s ; small calves, 14s. In pigs, porkers, 14s 6d to 16s ; small pigs, 3s 3d to 6s 8d * sows in pig, £3. No demand for horses.
