The Petroleum Discovery.

(Per i J ress Association). New Plymouth, June 14. Mr Skey, Government analyst, reporting on a sample of petroleum taken by Mr Boss, of Sargood and Ewan, to Wellington, wbich Mr Ross saw pumped from the well near New Plymouth, says the result of the test shows the sample to belong to an entirely different class of petroleum to that sent in 1868, and the present one has a higher commercial value. Mr Skey says it is the same oa tbe Ban_Dlo c.ntiibuted by Mr Brcok about 1889, whicb was got out of a bore about three feet from the present well and which Professor Redwood said was of an exceptionally valuable description and of commercial value.
