The Butter Market.

Messrs Barraud and Abraham favor us with tbe following report, from their London agents, Messrs R. T. Turnbull aad Co , under date April 19th : — Butter. — Stocks of colonial butter have continued to increase, as in spite of very low prices being accepted, the supply has been greater than the demand. Considerable sales were effected -- in anticipation of the Easter holidays, and the market can scarcely be said to have resumed active operations, although at the present low level of value there is a good steady consumption going. Besides the heavy arrivals of last month causing prices to fall, the market has been influenced on the down grade by the fact that some of tho better brands of Victorian produce have not maintained their high standard of quality right up to the end of the season, and the later shipments from New Zealand have included much of a very inferior character, which has been sold at from 38s to 50s per cwt. The current quotations are : — -French, 74s to 102s per cwt ; Danish, 90s to 96s ; Australian and New Zealand, finest, 80 to 84s ; good to flue, 60s to 76s ; inferior, 40s to 50s. The arrivals during the four weeks which have elapsed since our last report have been — From Australia : Per S.S. Arcadia, 10,940 boxes ; Oruba, 9,176 ; Valetta, 27,---38 8; Celtic King, 8,003 ; Thermopylae, 1,471 ; Total- 56,978 boxes. From New Zealand — Per S.S. Duke of Westminster, 3,164 packages ; Tokomaru, 6,695; Otarama, 114; Mamari, 530 , lonic, 5,689 ; total, 16,192 packages. _^
