Fire in Wellington.

SHOCKINGLY SUDDEN DEATH. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This Day. A fire broke out at about 2 o'clock this morning in a building at the rear of Crespen's grocery store, Lambton Quay. It was soon got under control, but the contents wore greatly damaged, chiefly by water, and also the contents of the premises of Oakley (tailor) and Cordoza (fruiterer). Two doors away was a small jewellery shop, occupied by T. C. Woodford. He was told of the fire and arrived on the scene in such a state of agitation that at about 4 o'clock he died of heart disease. The unfortunate man was taken to a neighboring hotel, and two doctors were called in, but without avail. Crespen's buildings and stock were insured for £1150 in the Commercial Union and Norwich Union offices, the major portion of which was re insured.
