Mysterious Death.
— '» (Pel? Press Association). Wellington, Juno 10. An inquest began to-day on the body of the woman Louise Smith, who died from severe burns sustained last week, in connection with which three young men are now in custody on a charge of having caused the injuries. The medical evidence was to the effect that death resulted from shock to the system from burns. The Police Sergeant said deceased informed him that the two Kennedy's were in the house, which is occupied by a Chinaman. While she was going out at the paseage someone threw a lighted kerosene lamp which struck the wall and eet fire to her clothes. Smith was badly burned from the hip upwards. Gee Chung, with whom deceased hai been living, said a number of people wer* in the house the night the won: an was burned, including Eobert Wilson, now in custody, Andrew and Joseph Kennedy, ia custody, came to the house and forced their way in. A row took place between Wilson and the Kennedys, and witness said he saw Andrew Kennedy throw a lamp at Smith. The inquest was adjourned until Monday next.
