THE ZBOB VALLEY DISASTER. THE EDUCATION QUESTION Itf GREAT BEIfAIN. (Per Press Association). Washington, June 9. The American trades have summoned a national conference for the purpose of organising military regiments, exclusive of unionists, to guard employers' property during strikes and prevent disorders. Calcutta, June 9. Later particulars of the disaster to the British detachment in the Zhob Valley show that during the temporary absence of Lieutenant George J. Home, of the Royal Engineers, the Shazis burned the camp and the adjacent fort at Sandenian. In the attack eleven ot the garrison were killed. The natives afterwards traced Lieutenant Home to the place where he was camping, 20 miles distant, and murdered him. London, June 9. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued a circular letter in which they claim equal treatment for voluntary and State schools. They suggest that the Treasury should pay all teachers and those who do not draw royal rates would thus obtain Government help without control. The Times, in discussing the scheme, estimates that it would involve an extra cost to the taxpayer of 20 per cent. News from Berlin states that the announcement that the Chinese loan is guaranteed by Rnssia has completely surprised and outwitted the German Government. The negotiations in regard to the loan were kept secret, although it was susposed that both countries were acting in concert.
