Montague will hold an auction sale of the balance of the stock of Mr T. 11. Brediu, who is leaving Feildiug, on Friday next. Every item will Le sold without the slightest reserve. At a meeting of householders at Marton la:;t evening the following new committee were elected : — Yen. Arch. The St. John's Ladies' Working Bee will hold a sale of work in the Temperance Hall next Friday afternoon. The items to be offered for sale include those left over from the bazaar held in the summer months, and comprise a variety of useful articles such as children's knitted and woollen ganneuis, pinafores, ladies' aprons, etc., besides fancy work. All the articles have been re-uiarkcl at very low prices. Afternoon tea will be provided. At last meeting of the Wi njanui liar- ■ bor Board, a letter enclosing a petition from the residents of Pohangina township was read. The petition set out — (1) " That many of the town and suburbau sections are still unsold ; (2) that if such sections are put up for sale they would be taken up by persons in this district as well as by those from other districts ; (:>) that it is believed that persons are now waiting for such sections to be offered for sale. The petitioners therefore prayed that the Board would cause such sections to put up for sale at an early date. After discussion it was resolved " Tlr.t a copy of the petition be forwarded to the Commissioner of Crown Lands with a request that he should advise the Board as to the expediency of offering for sale a further portion of the township lands.
