Sad Shooting Fatalities.

At the inquest on Herbert Palmer „ the evidence showed that deceased must have had the gun at full cock, and taking it up quickly to fire it must have slipped and the trigger got caught in some scrub. Deceased's brother had fixed up a tourniquet on the wound admirably, but Dr Purdy stated that even a medical man could not have saved him with such a wound. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death. Tauranga, June 10. News has been received from Waiotahi, near Opotiki, that Mr Arthur Chapman, brother of Mr F. Chapman, member of the Licensing Committee, was killed on Saturday by the accidental discharge of a gun.
A young man named Pitcher, while duck shooting at Waipukurau last week, had the palm of his hand and wrist shattered by the explosion of his gun. The arm had to be ampu* tated close to the elbow joint.
