— o (Conclusion of Report.) Eesolved, That the Secretary be instructed to write to Mr .Richard Port for written permission to have telephone station at his house. ! Eesolved, That Or Vicary and the Engineer he empowered to accept tenders for drain at Apiti on June 17. Eesolved, on the motion of Cr Vicary seconded by Or Wagstaff, That the Engineer be instructed to call tenders for carting about 300 yards of metal on the Main road, Apiti, and also to put a culvert at the junction of Main road and Main Cross road. Eesolved, That the Engineer arrange with Mr Benefield for permission to cut drain across his property, and on coming to an arrangement, to get the work done. Eesolved, That all persons having felled bush on road lines be paid for same as soon as the said road lines have been cleared and atumped, and are open for traffic. Eesolved, That the necessary steps be taken for this Council to be specially represented on the Palmerston District Hospital Board. Eesolved, That Frank G. H. Phillpotta' and Frank H. E. Gorriuge's * names be placed on rate roll in place of D. H. Mackenzie's for section 4, Block VII, and section 1, Block VII f, Pohangina. Proposed by Cr Vicary, seconded by Cr Dickin, That the Engineer fee instructed to lay off the Uppermost Cross road west, to call tenders for forming and metalling the same as per schedule of works ; also, to lay off 30 chains of the Uppermost Cross road east, and call tenders for forming the same ; also, to lay off the ApifiNorsewood road, about 90 chains, and call tenders for the above works to be in by the August meeting of the Council. — Carried. Eevsolved, That the Engineer be instructed to furnish the Council with the cost of felling bush and clearing same on road leading to Delaware Block in the Tamaki riding. Eesolved, That the Secretary be instructed to take £700 from the £1500 Mangapikopiko riding loan and put the same at interest for six months in the Colonial Bank, Palmerston N. Eesolved, That the Council Chambers be not granted for any public meeting whatever Accounts were passed for payment and the Council adjourned to July 13.
SP.-CIAL MEETING. A resolution was passed levjing a special rate of l-5d in the £, for the purpose of paying interest on a loan for the construction of the Apiti bridge. A resolution was passed laying a rate of % d in the £ within the Awahou riding for the £2257 Joan. Resolved, That the bye-lawa as advertised be adopted. A motion by Cr Brown, That the special rate be collected over Mangaone and Pohangina ridings, to cover interest on loan £3,394, and to be collected on the new valuation, was negatived.
