Reports are in circulation that Mr Eddy was offered a salary of .£IO,OOO •with two years engagement by the Victorian Government to set the railways of the colony iv order. Replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly the Minister of Railways said he knew nothing of this arrangement and there seems little possibility of the House agreeing to the increase in Mr Eddy's salar}'. The House might vote a salary of JMOOO if Mr Eddy was appointed sole Commissioner, but the Government is unlikely to accept this.
