(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, June 4. The Presbytery was occupied to-day for some hours with the call given by the Port Chalmers congregation to the Rev. J. Anderson Gardiner. The call was signed by 81 members. It was eventually resolved to refer the case to the Synod. Ciiristchurch, June 3. The case of Williams v. Domtrain and others, claiming .£2OOO damages on account of injuries to his son by an accident on the Switchback railway in October has commenced. June 4. At the Police Court this morniug, George Peck, charged with bigamy, was committed for trial. On the charge of wife desertion, the same accused was remanded. • Auckland, June 4. Frederick Cockhead, arrested on a charge of sheep stealing, was remanded to Hamilton. Wellington, June 4. The Wellington Committee of the Wairarapa Relief Fund yesterday handed over the sum of i-2027 to the Public Trustee for distribution in accordance with the Committee's scheme. Only £ 5 19s 3d was spent by the Committee in administration.
