[FUOM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT, j 'I he second meeting of the Mutual Improvement Association was held last night, the attendance being in excess of the previous meeting. The Rev. Mr Harper submitted a copy of rules to be dealt with by the Committee. The society is now in a fair way to comiLence the business of the session. The following subjects have already been placed on the syllabus, and it is hoped that afc the meeting of the Committee this week they will be abl« to complete the list for the quarter. •' Women's franchise," Mr W. Richmond and another on Monday next ; " Prohibition and its evils," Mr Hammond and Mr Mills. Debate on the motion by Mr Sanson : " That, in the opinion of this Society, the present commercial arrangements of the world are highly injurious to the morals of the people and prejudicial of the rights of a large majority of civilised society." There will be a special meeting of the Good Templars on Thursday evening, and a social afterwards. A special meeting of Oddfellows, A.C., takes place on Saturday to meet G.M. Bro.
