O [per press association!. London, May 81. Mr R. W. Hanbury, member for Preston, asked in the House of Commons whether there was any truth in the report that the Eight Hon. Sir Arthur Hayter, member for Wallsall, had been nominated for the Governorship of New South Wales. Mr Buxton replied that the appointment had not yet been settled, but he was not at liberty to explain the causes of the delay. He declined to refer to the remonstrance cabled by Mr Reid, Premier of New South Wales. The Westminister Gazette says Mr R. C. Munro-Ferguson, M.P., is admirably equipped for the position of Governor of one of the Australian colonies, while his seat is safe lor his party in the event of his resignation. June 2. The Observer declares the Government too weak to appoint the Governor of New South Wales, as it fears the electoral consequences will constitute a danger to the Empire. ____„__„_„„__
