VICTORIAN PAIILIAMENT. [Per Press Association] Melbourne, Maj r 29. Parliament was opened today. The Governor's speech contained nothing of a surprising nature. Sydney, May 29. Sailed to-day, Manapouri for Auckland. ' Sir Maurice O'Korke is a passenger by her. It is understood the Cabinet has recommended the Governor to release Francis Abigail, who is undergoing a sentence for complicity in the bank frauds. Brisbane, May 29. Sir Samuel Griffith, Chief Justice, ■ speaking at the Technical College said the fixing by law of the relative values of silver and gold would have at most only a temporary effect, as values did i uot depend on the will of law-givers, bnt on production. The practical difficulties iv the way of inducing the whole world to fix relative values were enormous, if not insuperable. He admitted , that the existing state of things was most alarming, and strongly urged careful consideration of the question by financiers. ____________
