PIRATE II v. HALF-HOLIDAY CLUB

The above match was played on the Showground at Palmerston yesterday afternoon, and caused a good deal of interest. The Half-Holiday team defeated their opponents by 13 points to nil. In the first spell Harper and Purser secured tries, Short converting the first one into a goal, and in the second spell Wishart obtained a try, which Eyre successfully converted. In the second spell the Pirates had the best of the game, and the backs got smartly away witli the ball several times, but were unable to cross the line. Mr Weekes acted as referee.
