FEILDING AND SANDON.
The proposed road through the properties of Messrs Stewart and Hunter, connecting the Rangitikei line and FeildingAwahuri roads, will reduce the distance between Feilding and Sandon by two and a-half miles. This will be of considerable importance to both townships, as it will bring trade into Feilding and reduce the cost of sending produce to a railway from the district around Sandon. Stock-drivers will also appreciate the reduction in mileage. Besides, it was only recently — after the Easter floods — that considerable inconvenience was experienced by those whose business took them from Feildiug to Campbelltown, or vice versa, when the bridge was washed away opposite Mr Boness' property. On this occasion the mail contractor had to get the permission of the propertyowners through which the road passes to enable him to deliver mails at Awahuri and Campbelltown. It is to be hoped the promoters will succeed in carrying a poll to enable the Manawatu County Council to raise a loan for procuring the laud and carrying out the i necessary work.
